OBITUARY:
Squire Boone, who died at the residence of his son, W.M. Boone, on Friday last, was born in Shelby County, Kentucky, June 7th, 1794, and was in his 86th year at the time of his death. He moved to Harrison county, Indiana, and afterwards, in 1824, to Putnam county in the same state, where he resided till June 1852, when he came to Iowa and settled in Boone county. He was a direct descendant of the famous Daniel Boone, the first settler of Kentucky being a great nephew of that renowned man. The deceased was twice married, having two children born to him by his first wife and nine by his second wife. Four children are dead, two having been killed by lightning at the home in Putnam County, Indiana. All of his second wife's children who are living reside in this county, the names being Wm. M. Boone, Mrs. Hannah Seibers, Elizabeth Williams and Tyler Boone. Those who have died are Mrs. Julia Capps and John L. Boone. Deceased was a member of the Universalist church, and was a man respected and esteemed by everybody with whom he was acquainted, being possessed of the most sterling honor and integrity in all his dealings with his fellow man.
