Salvatore Joseph Guzzardi

GUZZARDI, Salvatore Joseph Salvatore Joseph Guzzardi, 81, of Rocky Hill and previously of East Hartford, beloved husband of Angeline (Yacobucci) Guzzardi, passed away Tuesday, (September 11, 2007) at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Wilson, the son of the late Joseph and Concetta Guzzardi. Sal was an Army Veteran, a member of the V.F.W. in Windsor and the A.F.S.M.E. Union. Sal was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. During his careers at Fuller Brush Company and CT Labor Department, he was tireless in his efforts to protect the rights of workers. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed playing softball, basketball, baseball, golf and bowling. Sal was a long time die hard Yankees fan, but who isn't? He was also an active Senior Club member, especially enjoying hard fought setback and poker games. Sal was a man with a gruff exterior but had a heart of gold; a true one of a kind who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Besides his wife Angeline, Sal leaves two sons, Paul Joseph Guzzardi and wife Carol of East Hartford, Carl David Guzzardi and wife Catherine of Portland; a daughter, Donna Marie Gregor of East Hartford; three sisters, Lenna Sherwood of Windsor, Antoinette Clark of Hartford, and Yolanda Canzanella of Wilson. He also leaves his grandchildren, John Gregor, Joseph Guzzardi and his wife Shannon, Meaghan Greenwood, Ally Greenwood, Nicole Guzzardi, Nick Greenwood, Michael Gregor, Erica Guzzardi, Patrick Guzzardi, Andrew Gregor and Danielle Guzzardi; a great grandson, Jordan Pearson and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Carmen Guzzardi and a sister Vincenza Castanza. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 15, 9 a.m. from the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. James Church. Burial with Military Honors will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
