Kelly was a cute Cocker Spaniel & the 3rd & last dog owned by my family when I was growing up.
We got Kelly on March 23rd 1981, the day after our dear 1st dog Holly was put to sleep.
Kelly was a very active puppy. Her reddish color always made me think that she looked more like an Irish Setter than a Cocker Spaniel.
Kelly barked at almost everyone who entered our house & heard most noises going on outside. She was an excellent watchdog. However, as Kelly grew, so did her temper. She would not allow the dog groomer to cut her hair. Only my sister Kerry could persuade Kelly to sit for short periods of time while she trimmed her ears & legs.
One day, after years of dealing with Kelly's unpredictable & often violent behavior, my Father had had enough. Kelly was brought to the local humane society by myself & my sister Bridget, who refused to take her in - so I had to do this loathsome task alone. I remember the people there being very uncaring, which made an already bad situation worse. I gave Kelly a big hug & kiss goodbye & left in tears.
Predictably, when we returned home so upset, my Dad had second thoughts about what he had decided & raced down to the shelter, but it was too late - Kelly was gone.
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
