Mississippi Democrat Newspaper Article 1925----Friends here will be deeply grieved and shocked to learn of the passing away of Mrs. C.K. Voorhees at her home in San Diego, Cal., on Tuesday morning. Mrs Voorhees, as Miss Norvell Caskie, lived here for many years and since her marriage has often visited Natchez in the home of her relatives, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Pritchartt. Many friends here will keenly feel her death.
San Diego Newspaper November 18, 1925

Nov 2008: Norvell often cited her as as being at least 8 years younger that correct birth date. She was born in 1876 in Boone Co, Rocheport MO. A sister Emma Armstead Russell Caskie Munger who died age 20 in St Louis MO. Further research is being conducted. She had a childless marriage and as an only child must have felt so alone after death of mother. Her spouse, Charles Kirker Voorhees married Norvell's cousin within a few years so they kept him in the family. He was a good man.

The photo of Norvell standing by a tree was pasted in my father's WWI photo album but without identification. In 2001 this photo was finally identified and must have been pasted in book after her suicide. Thanks to other phtographs shared by Pritchartts of Natchez her fate told.

Cause of death suicide - Norvell shot herself at her home.
Interview with other family members in 1998, Edwin Voorhees family, they stated she had an addiction to opiates through her doctor and was always seeking perscriptions regularly from him. This is likley the reason for her depression after death of mother.
