"Jeff" was a Fireman at Baskett Station Mine. On the night of May 12th 1917, his son Richard Anderson was involved in a poker game which resulted in a violent fight between the young Richard and another Baskett resident by the name of Jim Amos. Amos slashed Richard's throat with a knife. The wound was reported that would probably be fatal. Jeff went after Jim Amos, who had fled to his home and retrieved a firearm anticipating retaliation for the slashing and when Jeff Davis confronted Jim Amos at the train depot, where he was making his escape by train, Amos shot Jeff twice in the neck, where he fell dead at the train depot in Baskett. Richard Anderson Davis survived the attack and lived a long life. Family Lore says, Amos was said to have escaped south to Louisiana and Jeff's wife's family, the Faught Boys from Ohio County, Ky was rumored to have caught up with Amos and hung him dead for the attack on their nephew and murder of their brother-in-law.

Several Infant Children of Thomas Jefferson Davis and Annie Elizabeth Faught are also buried in this family plot.
