"That the adoption of said minor child is consented to by Dora Bright its mother, the father of said child having abandoned it and its mother for some time prior to its birth and from its birth to the present time, and still continues to abandon it, and that his whereabouts is unknown; and by Jennie Bright the grand mother of said child, in whose care and custody the said minor child now is, as aforesaid; which consent is endorsed hereon and made a part of this petition."

Reva was born to Dora Bright and Clarence Robert Copple. At age 1, Dora Bright gave her up, to marry Harvey Pender McClure. She was adopted by Ruben George and Eunice (Brinks) Gould. They divorced, and Eunice married Frank Shaw in 1925. Eunice died a few months later, when Reva was 9. Rueben George Gould did not take his adopted daughter to live with him, George Gould died in Seattle, WA in 1980, burial site unknown. Frank Shaw gave her to his sister and her husband Guy and Florence (Shaw) Thomas to raise.
