In August 1939 the Dallas Morning News reported him as being a "noted, composer, concert pianist, organist… well known to radio listeners for his works on the National Broadcasting Company's network productions of "Robin Hood", "The Courtship of Miles Standish", and " Christmas Carol"

-1940 to 1952, he served as the Head of the Graham Eckes Academy's School of Music in Palm Beach, FL

• 1954 to 1960, he toured as the accompanist to the opera star Lilly Pons.

• In 1962, Wells was hired as the organist of All Saints Episcopal Church. The Hively family moved to Jensen, The congregation enjoyed the experience and knowledge that Wells Hively brought to All Saints. The paper write ups on the various musical offerings provided during his time with us were so dramatic. He was confirmed as an Episcopalian here in 1968 and died at the age of 66+ in 1969.

•April 18, 1971 a New Organ, dedicated in Memory of Wells Hively Sr. was held.
The organist from St. Mary's came as did Mrs. Hively and son. Bishop Wallace D. Conkling, Retired Bishop of the Diocese of Chicago, presided at this event.
