John G. Huddleston, or Uncle George as he was better known, was born Oct. 5, 1828, near Thomasville, MO, and was married June 3, 1860 to Mary A. Gum, and to this union was born nine children, seven living, two deceased. The writer visited him during his last illness and was present when he died. He was converted just a short time before he died and told me he was willing and ready to go. His funeral was preached at his home near Thomasville, MO, by the writer from Eccl. 12-18, and a long funeral procession followed to the Union Hill Cemetery where his remains were laid to rest on Oct. 1, 1904. If he had lived till the 5th day of Oct., he would have been just 76 years old. He leaves a companion, and seven children to mourn their loss of him. May the Lord bless them all." (L.L. Whitehead)
