ROBERT FARRAR MISSING IN ACTION
Conway, October 5 - Word has been received by Mr and Mrs Earl Farrar of Maple Street that their youngest son, Robert Farrar, has been reported missing as of September 8. He was born July 8, 1922 in this town and attended local school, later graduating Arms Academy at Shelburne Falls with the class of 1940. He was employed by the General Airline Company of Rensselaer until he entered service September 15, 1942. He received his training at Fort Dix, N.J., and Sikeston, Mo. and also at the army technical school at Sioux Falls, S.D., and the army air base at Salt Lake City, Utah. He was at the pre-flight school for pilots at San Antonio, Tex. and at Davis Moulton field at Tucscon, Ariz. He was commissioned as gunner and went overseas in May 1944.
A brother, Wilbur Farrar, lives in this town and a sister, Mary, wife of Harold Graves, lives in Albany.
