He moved to the NY-NJ area for his work as an inspector for the telephone company where he met Marguerite Reitsma. They were married on December 1, 1922 and had two children, Marjorie Hazel Brown b. Oct 11, 1923 and Harold Maynard Brown Jr. b. March 2, 1927. He later became a specification engineer. After their children were grown Harold and his wife moved to New Mexico and then to San Diego, CA. He died of lung cancer at the age of 69. His remains were cremated and buried at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego.
