Ruby Deibert, 86, died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at her home in Garden City.

She was born Dec. 26, 1923, in Studley, to Ernest and Mattie Crayne Karnes, and attended school in Sheridan County. After her schooling, she relocated to Florida. She returned to Kansas, living in Hoxie, Colby, Great Bend and Dodge City before moving to Garden City in 1952.

A homemaker, Mrs. Deibert enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and playing bingo. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Eagles Lodge Auxiliary.

On Dec. 23, 1946, she married Herbert Deibert in Colby. He died May 17, 1988. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary Deibert; a brother, Bob Karnes; an infant brother, Charles Karnes; a sister, Wanda Thompson; a twin sister, Ruth Hunter; and a great-grandchild.

Survivors include four daughters, Linda Weston and Sherry Drussel, both of Garden City, Mona Hargrave of Salina, and Shirley Elliott of Inverness, Fla.; a brother, Dale Karnes of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. A graveside service was at Hoxie Cemetery in Hoxie.
