George was born in DeQueen, Arkansas. His Mother was Lona Lee (Norman) Avery. He grew up in DeQueen, and after serving in the Korean War, came home, met and married Willie M. "Billie" Pedigrew in 1953. They moved to Dallas, Texas, then to Mesquite, Texas, and to Salem in 1989. Until his retirement, George was a radio and tv repairman.
George loved people and could sit for hours talking about old times and entertaining them with his jokes. He also loved to entertain the children with his magic tricks.
