Death: Feb. 20, 1992

Alice May Lowry, 89, formerly of Waynesboro and in recent years of Route 1, Fishersville, died Thursday morning (Feb. 20,1992) in Liberty House Nursing Home, Waynesboro.
She was born July 9, 1902, in Augusta County, a daughter of James and Willanna Harris Almarode.
She was a member of Basic United Methodist Church where she was in the Bykota Sunday school class and Methodist Women's Circle.
She was a member and past noble grand of Blue Ridge Rebekah Lodge 81, having received a degree of chivalry in 1971. She was named Mother of the Blue Ridge Lodge in 1987. She was a member of the Past Noble Grand Club, Order of the Eastern Star Lodge #105 and Fishersville Senior Citizens Association.
Her husband, Burnett T. Lowry, died Nov. 29, 1959. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Bernard T. Lowry and Roy Dean Lowry; and two infants.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Carl J. (MaryAnn) Tyler of Fishersville and Mrs. Walter H. (Marie) Lonas of Waynesboro; two sons, Lynwood Lowry of Fishersville and Lyle Lowry of Charlottesville; four grandsons, Allan L. Lonas of Summerville, Ga.; Burnett T. Lowry II of Waynesboro; D. J. Tyler Jr. of N. Garden and D. Wayne Tyler of Bristol, Tenn.; eight granddaughters, Mrs. Donna Farris and Mrs. Patricia Atwell, both of Charlottesville, Mrs. Linda O'Donnell, Miss Mary Jane Lowry, Miss Lynn L. Lowry, all of Waynesboro, Mrs. Deborah Creef of Atlanta, Mrs. Karen Aldinger of Lyndhurst and Mrs. Deanna Reese of Lofton; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Basic United Methodist Church by the Rev. Elwood Pack with burial at Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons and Brian E. Clark.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Bykota Sunday school class, Rebekah Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and Percy S. Lackey.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at McDow Funeral Home.
