Wayne was the youngest of two sons born to David Paul and Dorothy E. (Rushton) McCreary. He married (1) Loretta M. Renfro in 1955 and they had six children: William Dale, David Loyd, Gary Wayne, Lynne Marie, Jane Annette and Clinton Allen. He later married (2) Patricia McDonald in 2000.

Wayne McCreary

Wayne McCreary, 74, of Rushville, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born July 28, 1932 in Mooresville, he was the son of Paul and Dorothy (Rushton) McCreary; his mother, a Rushville resident, survives. He married Loretta M. Renfro May 7, 1955; she preceded him in death June 19, 2000. He married Patricia McDonald May 22, 2002; she survives.
Mr. McCreary was a lifelong Rushville resident. He was involved with McCreary Block Company since 1945 and was co-owner from 1977 to 1999. He was also employed at the Carthage paper mill. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Rushville. His family was responsible for the carved concrete owl on the Rushville Public Library.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include three sons, David McCreary of Bon Aqua, Tenn., and Gary McCreary and Clinton McCreary, both of Rushville; two daughters, Lynne (Mrs. Richard) Craven and Jane (Mrs. Kevin) Smiley, both of Rushville; one brother, Warren McCreary, Rushville; two step sons, Kent Stevens and Brad Stevens, both of Hamilton, Ohio; three step daughters, Saundra (Mrs. Jeff) Weisbecker of Hamden, Ohio, Sharon (Mrs. Roger) Courtney of Evansville and Lana (Mrs. Arthur) Jordan of Williamsburg, Ohio; and several grandchildren and step grandchildren.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one son.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Moster & Cox Mortuary in Rushville with Pastor Jeff Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery and will include a graveside military service. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rushville Public Library or the Rush County Community Foundation.
