Manhattan Beach,Calif.-- James Edward Casey,60-years of Manhattan Beach,Calif.,passed away on Sunday Aug 20,2006 in Torrance,Calif.
Born in Brooklyn,N.Y., Jim moved to Sidney,at the age of 5,where he spent his youth and graduated from Holy Angels High School i 1936.
He served in the Army Medical Corps as a medical Technolgist and relocated to Terrance after his service date.
Jim married Mary Jane Smith in 1944 and moved to Manhattan Beach where they raised three children.He worked for the American Red Cross Where he retired as director of the blood bank after 35years."Pop"as he affectionately knowen,will be remembered as the life ot the party,entertaining other with his Irish humor and fective piano playing.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years,Mary Jane;brother,John Casey;and sister Betty Rice of Piqua.
he is survived by his son,Patrick(Joanne)Casey of Palm Desert;daughters;Mary Kaye(Don) Carpenter and Peggy(Steve)Nisen of Manhattan Beach;five grandchildren;and nieces Peggy Luby of Piqua and Jean Cable of Sidney.
A mass was held at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach on Thurday.
Burial followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City,Calif.
