Grandmother Elisabeth Schnell nee Hein was born in the colony of Huck, Russia, on 25 July 1861 and died on 9 July 1946 at the home of her son George in Windsor at an age of 85 years, 11 months, 16 days. In her youth, she married Peter Schnell, she accepted 3 step children, John, Elisabeth and Mollie. In the year 1886, the Schnell family came to America and lived the first 16 years in Nebraska and in the year 1902 established their home here in Windsor, becoming founders of our congregation here. It was always possible for the Grandmother to attend church services until about a year ago when she more or less withdrew from an active life. She was a diligent reader of the Bible and other Christian books. The Kirchenbote was one of her dearest publications. The dear deceased leaves two sons, Georg in Windsor, Colo. and Conrad in South Gate, Calif. Two daughters, Mrs. Anderson in Portland, Ore. and Mrs. Peppler in Longmont, Colo. as well as fifteen grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and three step grandchildren.
