Edward G. Biganess was born in Wisconsin to Lawrence and Mary E. (Smith) Biganess. His tombstone says he was born in 1863; however, two censuses indicate 1865 and his application for the state soldier's home says he was 62 in March 1927, which would have made him born in 1864. He also stated he was 5'4" tall and had a ruddy complexion. He had been a resident of the state of Washington since 1912 and was by occupation a navy yard workman.
He served as a musician in the Spanish American War with the Band, 1st Regiment, Montana Voluntary Infantry. His military record indicates battles, engagements, skirmishes, expeditions as follows: in the Philippine Islands in 1898, Filipino Insurrection 1898, LaLoma, Caloocan, Advance from La Loma Church, Touliahan River, Polo, Meycanyani Marilao Bucane, Bigaa, Guiguinba, Sanba Isabel, Malolos, Poag Bag River, Calumpan, Calumpit, Asalet, Sauto Tomas, Bacato, Saro F.. (handwriting hard to decipher); no wounds were received.
His pension was $30 a month.
In 1900 Edward was living with his older brother, Alva. They were both barbers in Bell, Spokane County, Washington. On March 19, 1905, he married Allie Mercer at McMurry, Washington. He declared he had no children when he applied to enter the Washington Veteran's Home. He was admitted there on April 20, 1927. He died of cancer at the Washington Veterans Home Hospital on November 19, 1929 and was buried on the 22nd. His widow, Allie, applied for a pension. She died October 18, 1946 in Kitsap County.

He was born August 25, 1863 in Wisconsin. He removed from North Dakota to Bremerton ten years ago. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Besides his widow, Mrs. Alli E. Biganess, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. H. D. Renner, Kelso.
The body is at the Bremerton Funeral Home and will be taken to Retsil Friday afternoon for services at 1:30 o'clock at the assembly hall. Rev. Elder Neft of Seattle will officiate.
