Obituary. Page B4, The News Journal, Wilmington, DE, Thursday, July 15, 1999. William E. Grabowski, Sr. Age 89. Of Wilmington, DE. Died Monday July 12, 1999. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret (Barczewski) Grabowski; sons, William E., Jr. of Wilmington, DE, Thomas S. of Stevensville, MD, and John P. of Wilmington; sisters, Victoria Crockett and Jane Trzynski and a brother, Edward J., all of Wilmington; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Born July 16 , 1909 in Poland, he came to the United States at an early age. He was a life long parishioner of St. Hedwig Church, he attended Salasianum School, and was a founding member of the Pulaski Legion and AMPOL (Americans of Polish Decent Cultural Society). He was a printer. After working for local newspapers and printing companies, he founded Modern Press Inc. in 1936. An officer and active in the Printing Industries of Delaware for many years, he was recognized by the Small Business Administration as Delaware Small Businessman of the year in 1968. He was still active in business until a few years ago. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. in St. Hedwig Church, Linden and South Harrison Streets, with burial in All Saints Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. at the John F. Yasik Funeral Home, 607 South Harrison Street. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Salasianum Development Fund, 18th and Broom Streets, Wilmington, DE 19802.
