Obituary from The Montana Standard 1/27/2010:

William Harold Pike died Jan. 23, 2010. He passed into his Lord's arms on Saturday.

He was born March 28, 1926, in Walkerville, where he grew up. His father was Walter Pike who died in 1932, leaving his mother, Laura Champion Pike, to raise Harold, his brother, Walter "Jack" Pike, and sister, Gloria Wolcott, with her loving hand. Harold graduated from Butte High then served in the Navy at the end of World War II. He was proud to have been on a ship that transported Japanese-held Chinese prisoners of war from Japan back to their homeland.

After his honorable discharge, Harold worked for Texaco in Butte, then, Continental Oil in Seattle then on to Los Angeles. His career path later took him to Stockton, Calif., where he worked for Johns-Manville.

When his mother became ill, Harold, being the kind and loving person he was, returned to Butte to care for her until she died in 1982. He has lived in the family home since that time and has spread fellowship and goodwill to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Harold viewed the world with a sense of wonder and appreciated every little kindness shown him. In his humble way, he would delight in every moment he could share with family and friends. He would frequently tell others about the wonderful dinner his neighbor invited him to, or about the special help someone gave him, or about how kind another person was to take him to the store or give him a ride home. Harold was a very gracious, gentle, generous, loving person and will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his brother, W. Jack (Helen) Pike of Stockton; sister, Gloria Wolcott, nephew Jack (Susan) Wolcott, niece, Cheri (Jim) Williams, niece, Violet Wolcott, all of Butte; and step-brother, Jack (Floydean) Caddy of Kellogg, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his nephew, Rick Pike; niece, Kathy Pike; brother-in-law, Charles Wolcott; stepsister, Maude Caddy; stepbrother, Dave Caddy of Kellogg. He leaves many great-nieces, great-nephews and some very special friends who helped make his light shine bright.

Harold's remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29. Interment with military honors will follow in Mount Moriah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
