Evelyn was the oldest of 4 children born to Henry Lee Foy and Elizabeth Seamon. She married James William Patterson 12 August 1942. James left for the war shortly after they were married. He was killed in action in World War II on 26 Feb 1944 and was buried in the Military cemetery in Cambridge, England. Evelyn never re-married. She lived her entire life in her mother's home helping to take care of her mother and their home in West Homestead, Pennsylvania.

She had three siblings, Bertha Fern Foy (Thomas F Welsh), Harold William Foy (Pearl Fleet) and Robert Russell Foy (Irma Roselie Kuty).

Evelyn worked all of her adult life for the Carnage Library in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. For many years she was the head librarian at the library. She loved reading and had a photographic memory. She could tell you all about the kings and queens of the old country, about the Kennedys of America and histories of the countries she'd visited.

Evelyn also enjoyed traveling. She traveled many times overseas to visit James' gravesite and the countries around England. Aunt Evelyn never forgot her nieces and nephews and later her great-neices and nephews, always sending a little gift from her worldly travels.

She is missed by her family!
