Madison -- John Wesley Carter , 68, a retired farmer of Pine Hall, died Wednesday at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Danbury.

He was a member and deacon of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Henry Newman of Rte. 3, Madison, Mrs. Wade Nelson of rte. 1, Madison, and Mrs. Stoney Lawson of Pine Hall; two sons, John Rufus carter of Rte. 3 Madison, and Paul Junior Carter pf belew Creek; 16 grandchildren; three brothers, Richard and caleb Carter of Rte. 1 Madison, and Robert Carter of High Point; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Morton of Rte. 2 Walnut Cove and Mrs. mary Sue Adams of Florence, SC. Funeral was to be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Rte. 1 Madison by Rev. Arthur Reid and Rev. S. G. Strader. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
