ISAAC M. KEITH IS DEAD
Well-Known Man Passed Away Early Sunday Morning
After an illness of several weeks, Isaac M. Keith died Sunday morning at 8:15 o'clock. Death resulted from an attack of dropsy with which he has suffered for some time. Within the past week he grew much weaker and death was not unexpected.
Mr. Keith was a well-known figure about the city and will long be remembered by the familiar name of Squire Keith. He came to this city twenty years ago from the northern part of the state, where he was born April 7, 1844. For a number of years he worked at his trade, that of a plumber. Four years ago last fall he was elected justice of the peace in Addison township. He served the term and was candidate for re-election, but was defeated. Since that time he has been employed as night watchman at the Schmoe factory, during the time his health would permit. Several weeks ago he gave up his work and has been confined to his room ever since.
He was a veteran of the Civil War and was a member of the Dumont Post No. 18, G.A.R, also a member of Shelby Lodge No. 39, I.O.O.F. Deceased was a member of the West Street M.E. Church and has been on the church board for a number of years.
The surviving relatives are the widow, Mrs. Rose Keith; one son, Harry, of this city; two brothers, John Keith, of Dodge City, Kansas; and Albert Keith, of Goshen, Indiana; three sisters, Mrs. A. L. Stratton, of Warsaw; Mrs. Mary Sipes, of Miles City, Montana, and Miss Amanda Keith, of Elkhart.
The funeral services will be held from the West Street M. E. Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, the Rev. G. Jensen officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery under the auspices of Shelby Lodge, I.O.O.F. Edwards & Hageman are in charge of the funeral arrangements.
