VINITA, Okla. - Cleo Humble, 83-year-old Vinita resident, passed away Friday, April 6, 2001 at Rosewood Terrace Nursing Center in Vinita. N. Cleo Humble was born February 1, 1918 to James Carl and Nannie Ellen (Allen) Chaney at Ottawa, Okla., east of Miami. She grew up in the Welch area and attended Schools at Prairie Center, Pleasant Valley and Welch. She spent most of her life in Craig County except for several years when she was employed in Kansas City and made her home there. Later she was employed at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita. She was a homemaker and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
She married Riley Humble December 24, 1935 at Vinita. They had 54 years together and they lived on the same farm for 42 years and moved into Vinita in March of 1988. She was preceded in death by Riley and their son, Gene Humble, her parents, five sisters, four brothers and a granddaughter.
She is survived by one granddaughter, Gina Miller and husband, Clyde; two great grand children, Jennifer Batchelor and Michael Gene Miller; two step great grandchildren, Gary and Vanessa, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Burckhalter Memorial Chapel. Rev. Will Busch officiated. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Lee Simmons, Fred Madl, Joe Johnson, Ernest Johnson, Eugene Jinks and Roy Lee Faulconer. Services were under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home.
