SPRINGDALE -- Andrew J. Shrader III, 84, of Springdale died Sept. 21, 2007, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born April 17, 1923, in Bogue Chitto, Miss., to Andrew J. Jr. and Laura Chambers Shrader. He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a graduate of Hazelhurst High School in Hazelhurst, Miss., and earned bachelor's degrees in history and physical education at Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss. He was a football coach for one year at Puckett High School in Puckett, Miss. He retired from Commercial Credit after 28 years and retired from First State Bank and Worthern Bank after 10 years. For the past 13 years, he worked part time for United Bank. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking, and was a member of New Hope Fellowship in Springdale. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Hearn Shrader.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Hearn Shrader; Melanie Thomas of Prairie Grove; and Gracie Cusick of Springdale.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel of Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale, with the Rev. Cliff Jenkins and Joe Layman officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Thomas, George Cusick, Cameron Little, Mike Middlecamp, Claude Harris and Harold Foreman.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, online at www.backstrom-pyeatte.com.
