Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2014 at an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Rita Gilbert, age 89, the former Rita Breaux, who passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at 7:45 a.m. at her residence in Carencro.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Mark Ledoux, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Gilbert was a native and resident of Carencro. Mrs. Gilbert was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. She was a member of the Bonne Mort Society, St. Anne Society and Ladies Altar Society.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Jeanie Gilbert French of Burleson, TX; and four grandchildren, Chase Medina, Courte Gilbert, Braeden Gilbert and Paxton Gilbert.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Gilbert; one son, Keith Gilbert; her parents, Clay Breaux and the former Irma Malapart, both natives of Carencro; and two sisters, Odette Richie and Grace Gardiner.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home by Noreen Breaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Chase Medina, Courte Gilbert, Braeden Gilbert and Paxton Gilbert.
