Gerald Edwin Kapolka 75, of Kenockee Township, died unexpectedly Thursday morning August 24, 2006 at home.
He was born February 11, 1931 in Portage, PA, the son of the late Albert and Christina Hannakan Kapolka.
His marriage to Niffa Cracchiolo was May 29, 1954 in Detroit Gerald served his country with the United States Marine Corps in Korea from 1952 to 1954. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, and was a 4th degree Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Emmett V.F.W. Post# 5585 and enjoyed being with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife Niffa of 52 years are a son and daughter-in-law Albert and Monica of St. Clair Shores and daughter and son-in-law Fran and David Pridemore of Sterling Heights; 4 grandchildren Jonathan, Julia, Robin, and Anthony; brother Michael and sister Joyce, and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Christina Kapolka (1973) and several brothers and sisters. His family honors the memory of Gerald and invite you to visit and share Sunday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond.
Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Paul Czarnota, pastor, will officiate.
Rosary devotion services with Fr. Jasper Sirianni will be 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. K of C chalice ceremony will follow rosary.
Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Detroit.
