PLEASANT GARDEN — Ted Russell Christopher, 77, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 28, 2008.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 30, at Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church. Family members will greet loved ones following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.
Ted was a native of Guilford County. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after serving in Korea. He then attended and graduated from Guilford College. He joined Agrico Chemical Company in 1957 and worked as an accountant for 20 years. He retired from Royster Clark Fertilizer Company in 2000. Ted took great pride in his home and was very meticulous about his lawn. His organizational skills were superb...from an orderly household to keeping watch over the Town of Pleasant Garden's finances.
His granddaughter, Olivia and grandson, Christopher were his absolute delights. He never ceased sharing with them his words of wisdom. He enjoyed time with his friends at the PG poker club as well as watching NASCAR races on Sunday. Ted will be missed by his many close friends and for his willingness to help those in his church community.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Olivia Powell, and his father, Russell whom he shared his home with for 13 years in Pleasant Garden and his favorite Aunt Own Hill.
He was married to the former Jane Kirkman and they were currently making plans for their 50th anniversary celebration in December. He was the beloved father of Jamie Blue-Matthews (Mike) who was his special " nurse and doctor"; grandchildren, Olivia Blue and Christopher Matthews.
