Birth: Dec. 8, 1856, Germany
Death: Sep. 2, 1929
St. Clair County
Illinois, USA

Maria Anna Heidenfelder was born in Harrbach, Germany, daughter of Johann and Maria Anna Neuf Heidenfelder. Her parents had five children: John Frank (Johann), Maria Anna, Valentine, Magdelena (died in 1863, at 3 months) and Ludwig (1864-1885). Magdelena and Ludwig died in Germany, as did their father Johann (1809-1870).

While in Germany, Maria bore a son whom she named Ludwig in 1879, most likely named after her brother. In 1886, she gave birth to a second son and named him Joseph. This time the father was noted on the birth certificate as Alex Hermann. A note in the margin of the birth certificate of Joseph says that George Alexander Herrmann was a guard at the Hospital of the Holy Ghost in Wiesenfeld. He may have been the father of both boys. He may have intended to marry her, but supposedly was killed in a logging accident along the Main River in 1886 just before Joseph's birth.

Ludwig and Valentine emigrated to the US in 1881. In 1887, Valentine returned to Germany to bring his widowed mother, and his sister Maria and her two sons to America. They departed on the S.S. Weser and arrived in Baltimore on Aug 10th, 1887. Maria was 30, Ludwig 8 and Joseph 7.5 months old.

Maria married John Freymeyer (Freymyer) on Aug. 16th 1889 at St. Bridget of Kildare Catholic Church in Pacific, MO. Freymyer was a widower with two children, Charles and Eunice. She had 3 children with Freymyer; Leo, George, and Mary Ann.
