Dixie Everman, 83, of Grayson died Friday evening , October 8, 2010, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

She was born July 4, 1927, in Grayson, a daughter of the late Morton and Georgia Willis Counts.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two sisters; Clarice Claxon and Dorothy Knipp and four brothers, Cecil Counts, Hoard Counts, Norman Counts and George Counts.

Dixie was a retired business woman in Grayson and she and her husband Edgar owned and operated many businesses in Grayson: The Dollar Store, Everman's Furniture, Jim's Furniture, Grayson Bowling Center and Grayson Health Club. She also farmed & raised cattle and tobacco. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edgar Everman, one son, Bruce Everman of Grayson, two daughters; Kathy (George) Hockley and Tammie Williams, both of Grayson, one sister, Betty Vincent of Ashland, two grandchildren, Jenny and Jeremy and one great-grandson, Jadyn.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Sparks Funeral Home. Tim Underwood and Jim Stephens will officiate. Burial will be in the Everman Cemetery at Grassy.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday evening and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
