Funeral services for Benno H. Birkelbach, 83, of Brenham, formerly of Shelby, were held Sunday at 1 pm at Foehner Chapel in Burton, with the Rev. Milroy Gregor officiating. Burial was in La Bahia Cemetery. Foehner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Birkelbach died Friday at 8:40 pm in a Brenham hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Ray Birkelbach and Tracy Birkelbach, both of Houston; two daughters, Fairy Nell Kieke and Virleen Fischer, both of Giddings; two brothers, Ervin Birkelbach of Brenham and Harry Birkelbach of Houston; one sister, Wilma Bathe of Burton; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Nephews served as pallbearers.
