Matthew Bera of Cameron Park died Saturday, Aug. 6 at age 36.
Mr. Bera was born Jan. 27, 1969 in Fairfield. He attended Capital Christian High School in Rocklin. He entered the fire service as a firefighter/paramedic with Sacramento City Fire Department in January 1995 and was promoted to apparatus operator in December 2003.
Survivors include Mr. Bera's wife of 16 years, Lauri; his children, Megan, Lauren and Nicolas; his parents, Linda Easterly and her husband Gary and James Bera; his father- and mother-in-law, Ray and Barbara Bryers; his grandparents, Ted and Mary Carrion, John and Mary Bera, Margaret Easterly and grandmother-in-law Edna Edgeman; and his siblings, Mindy Hertzell, Katie Easterly, Ryan Bera, Shane Bera, JR Bera, Monique Bera and Scott Taylor.
Flowers may be sent to Capital Christian Center for Friday's services. The family requests memorials in Mr. Bera's name be directed to the Firefighter Pacific Burn Institute, 3823 V St., Suite No. 4., Sacramento, 95817.
Services: A funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12 at Capital Christian Center, 9470 Micron Ave., Sacramento. Immediately following the church service a graveside memorial will be held at Fair Oaks Cemetery, 7780 Olive St., Fair Oaks. Friends and family will gather to celebrate his life following all of the services at "Brew It Up" located at 801 14th St. in Sacramento.
