HERHSBERGER – Donald L., 69, Richland Township, died Dec. 11, 2009, at Windber Hospice. Born Dec. 31, 1939, in Cessna, to James & Ethel (Crist) Hershberger. Predeceased by parents. Don was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving at the USAF Hospital, Tackikawa, Japan, from 1962 to 1966. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a B.S. in microbiology, Don was employed in the clinical lab at Lee Hospital where he achieved certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology as a specialist in microbiology. In his leisure time Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, walking and travel. "No words can express my gratitude for the concern and support I received from my friends and family during my illness. I would also like to thank all the medical personnel who provided my care. My life was more than I ever expected and I leave with few regrets. I hope to be remembered as a good friend and a good man." At his request there will be no services. Interment, Richland Cemetery. Harris Funeral Home, Richland.
