From the Vigo County Sheriff's Office

Deputy Sheriff Robert Alan Bartlett "Bob", 51, of Terre Haute passed away on August 31, 2013 in Union Hospital.

He was born on August 7, 1962 in Bedford, IN to Robert Bartlett and Barbara (Guess) Bartlett.

He graduated from Terre Haute North Vigo High School in 1980. Bob worked for the Vigo County Sheriff's Department for 29 years in the Patrol Division. He served above and beyond for his community.

Bob also spent 18 years working security at the county fair where he loved to work at the front gate. His coworkers affectionately nicknamed the gate booth as "Bob's Booth".

Bob was preceded in death by his daughter Amanda Bartlett in 1996 and his father-in-law William Rogers Sr. in 2011.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years Laura (Rogers) Bartlett; daughter Katie Bartlett; brother Nate Bartlett; mother-in-law Vernice Rogers; brother-in-law William Rogers Jr.; sister-in-law Sally O'Brien; and nieces and nephews Jessyca Rogers, Jonathan Rogers, John-Michael O'Brien, Emily O'Brien, and Andrew Reyes.

Bob will be sadly missed by his family, friends and especially his coworkers. "Bob was the guy that never had a bad day and always had a smile on his face… I don't know of one person Bob didn't like and he will be sadly missed" Sheriff Greg Ewing said.

In preparation for the funeral and to allow the staff to pay their final respects, the Sheriff's Office will be closed Thursday. Terre Haute Police and the Indiana State Police have stepped up to assist and will provide police services to the county.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday September 5, 2013 at 10:00a.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Pastor Fred Harrison will be officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
