Spc. Richard Gilmore of Carbon Hill., Alabama was a 2003 graduate of Walker High School where he was involved with the Junior ROTC program. While serving in Iraq he had been wounded a couple of times during his tour in Iraq, but he always volunteered to go back to the front lines. He was supposed to have left Iraq in June 2007 and return to Germany, but his stay had been extended. Richard is survived by his wife and two children as well as his parents. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Gilmore Sr.; grandmother, Ida B. Gilmore; aunt, Diane Wingate; and father-in-law, Jimmy A Colburn. He was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq at age 22.
