To Be Held Friday Morning
At Monticello
MONTICELLO, Ind. — Services
for James Daniel Brown, 80, well known
Burnettsville-man who died
late Monday night at the hospital
at Valparaiso, will be held at 10:30
a. m. Friday at the Miller funeral
home, the Rev. Virden Graham in
charge. Burial will be in the Davis
cemetery just east of Burnettsville.
A native of Idaville, he. was born
April 26, 1875, the son of Curtis and
Goretta (Shoop) Brown, and was
married in 1900 to Maude Bishop,
who died Sept. 30, 1952.
President of the State Bank of
Burnettsville since 1943, he had
been a director o£ the bank for 48
years and had operated Brown's
Pharmacy at Burnettsville since
1896. He closed the pharmacy and
went to Valparaiso to be with his
son, Dr. James C. Brown, several
months ago due to ill health.
A Burnettsville resident since the
age of six, he was a graduate of
the School of Pharmacy at Purdue
University, where he was a star
pitcher on the baseball team. He
was a member of the Odd Fellows
and K. of P. lodges.
Surviving with the son at Valparaiso
are two grandchildren and
three brothers, Cecil of Burnettsville,
Clint of Lafayette and Charles
of San Diego; Calif.
Friends may call after 2 p. m.
Wednesday at the Miller chapel.
