Husband of Dorathia "Dora" Koehler Chambers.

They died as a result of injuries received in a auto accident south of Packwood, Iowa, on Nov. 30, 1969.

Their joint funeral was held on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1969 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wilson Hyde officiating.

The Fairfield Ledger published a story, with photo of the accident vehicle, on Monday, December 1, 1969.

"Francis Lee Chambers, 74, was born March 29, 1895, in South Dakota, son of Francis and Dana Pierce Chambers (sic). He was reared and educated in Bernadotte, Ill.

He was married Jan. 1, 1917, in Washington to Dora Kochler (sic), also a victim of the Sunday night accident. They moved to a farm seven miles northwest of Fairfield in 1944 from Washington.

They moved to Fairfield in 1951 and he served as custodian at the Jefferson County Courthouse for nearly ten years. The family home is at 704 S. Fourth.

Chambers was a veteran of World War I, he was a member of Pleasant Grove Church, IOOF No. 4, Rebekah Lodge, Encampment and L.E.A.

He is survived by two brothers, Lewis, LaPorte City, and Oma, Bushnell, Ill., and a sister Mrs. Frank Hughes, Lewistown, Ill.

..... Mr. and Mrs. Chambers are survived by three sons, Raymond, Sigourney; Russell, Packwood; and Donald, Richland; also two daughters, Mrs. Dallas Kitzman, Sigourney, and Mrs. Lawrence Bates, Atlantic; along with 16 grandchildren.

They were preceded in death by one son and one granddaughter."
