Born in Ranger, December 21, 1949, he moved to Dallas in 1985 from Houston. He graduated from Ranger High School, attended Ranger Junior College and graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree. Lewis was a business manager for the Institute of Religion in Houston and business administrator for Spring Velley United Methodist Church in Dallas.
Survivors at the time of his death include his parents, Leonard and Daisy Una Woods Pounds of Ranger; a daughter, Sarah Beth Pounds of Plano; two brothers, Billy Bob Pounds of Fort Stockton and L. H. Pounds of Plano; two sisters, Patty Jo Callendar of Wichita Falls and Alice Gooch of Big Lake;and his maternal grandmother, Una Woods of Eastland.
