Rose Marie Hackett Barsanti, a retired nurse teacher for the East Syracuse-Minoa School District, died of cancer Sunday at Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was 68 and lived in Bridgeport. Mrs. Barsanti was a native of the Syracuse area. She lived many years in Minoa and Cazenovia before moving to Bridgeport in 1978. She was a gradaute of Minoa High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University School of Nursing. She received a masters degree in public health nursing from State University of New York College at Cortland. During World War II, Mrs. Barsanti was a first lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps serving in field hospitals in India and Okinawa. She was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. She was member of American Legion Post 1102 of Minoa. Mrs. Barsanti was a member of Onondaga County and New York State Retired Teachers associations, Syracuse University Alumni Association and Rogue's Roost Golf and Country Club of Bridgeport. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Bridgeport. Surviving are her husband Angelo John; a daughter, Jeanne Ann Barsanti Greene of Watkinsville, Ga.; a son, John S. of Syracuse; her mother, Irene R. Hackett of Syracuse; a sister, Virginia Hotchkiss of Minoa; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Russell H. Schepp & Son Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Minoa. Burial will be in Onongada County Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 109 East Ave., Minoa. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
