James Wesley Cirtain, 91 of Memphis, Tennessee died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at home. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James and Callie Cirtain, his son, Ronald Wesley Cirtain; his brother Monroe Cirtain and his sister, Margaret Cirtain Stallings. He is survived by his wife, Louise of 73 years and his daughter, Carolyn Whaley Ragland and her husband, David Ragland.

He also leaves four grandchildren: Lisa Whaley Marcom(Scott); Lea Whaley Freeman(Sean); Jonathan Wesley Cirtain(Melissa) and Kevin Cullen Cirtain. He had four great grandchildren: Griffin, Abbie, and Sarah Marcom and Emily Cirtain.

Jim was a graduate of South Side High School. He served our country proudly in the U S Navy during World War II. While working at the post office he passed the CPA exam in 1955. Through his professional career, he was employed at Plough, Incorporated and American Realty Group. He was a partner in Cirtain, Whaley, PC. He established Cirtain Plywood, Inc which led him to building homes and earning his Tennessee Real Estate License.

Jim was a life long Presbyterian where he served as a Sunday School teacher, elder, deacon, Sunday School teacher and choir member.

His love of music led him to be a member of The Barbershop Quartet, church choir and perform at retirement centers.
Jim was a former member of The Summit Club, English Speaking Union and Knights of the Vine. His professional memberships included the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and The Lumbermen's Club of Memphis.
His true passion was his creativity and skill in wood working that provided furniture for his home, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The Memphis Oral School for the Deaf, 7901 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN 38138.
