Major League Baseball Player. Born William Adolph Wambsganss in Cleveland, Ohio, he was an infielder making his debut with the Cleveland Indians on August 4, 1914. For thirteen seasons, he played with the Cleveland Indians (1914-23), Boston Red Sox (1924-25) and Philadelphia Athletics in 1926. On October 10, 1920, in the 5th game of the 1920 World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers, he accomplished the first and to date, only unassisted triple play in World Series history. He ended his career with a record of 1359 hits, 710 runs scored, 7 homeruns, 520 batted in and a .259 batting average. In 1980, he was inducted into the Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame. He died at age 91 in Lakewood, Ohio. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
