He served as a Member of the Tennessee State House of Representatives, Member of the Tennessee State Senate , Delegate from Tennessee to the Confederate Provisional Congress from 1861 to 1862, Delegate to the Tennessee State Constitutional Convention in 1870, and as a State Court Judge from 1872 to 1873.
