The following article is from Liberty And Amite County Sesqui-Centennial, 1809-1959:
"The W. I. Causey Home, nine miles southwest of Liberty, was settled by William Causey. He was born in Ireland in 1774, came to America in 1760, settled in Maryland, moved with his family, which consisted of a wife and eleven children, to South Carolina, lost his wife by death there, and from South Carolina moved to Amite County where he established his home in 1815, not long after the battle of New Orleans. Here he married Susannah Jackson and to this marriage eight children were born, one of whom was Ransome Jackson Causey.
The low and broad spreading house has eight rooms and a hall, surrounded by broad verandas. Not all of this is the original house, it having had five rooms. The dining room and kitchen were built apart because in those days there were always little Negroes in and around the kitchen and yard, their mothers being at work either in the house, kitchen, or field.
W. I. Causey, who died in 1933, was the owner of this place for many years. He reared a family of ten children. His wife was Hattie McLain, daughter of E. B. McLain, of Gloster. This home is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Trask. She is a granddaughter of W. I. Causey. Mrs. Winnie East, a daughter of W. I. Causey, lives in the home."
