Stella was born in Blooming Grove in Navarro Co. She taught school at the Phillips Chapel schoolhouse around 1920 or so. She also worked at the Sanger Bros. department store in Waco before she was married. She married Ronald Hay August 7, 1925, and they lived all their married life in Waco. During the sixties and seventies she worked on Sundays in the nursery at the 7th and James Baptist Church.
