ODESSA - Doris Faye Harvill Johnston, 71, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, at her residence.
She was born January 14, 1936, in Johnson City, TX to Albert Sidney and Mary (Norton) Harvill.
Doris was a registered nurse at Medical Center Hospital for 20 years. She retired in 1997. The last ten years at Medical Center, she was the house supervisor of nurses. For ten years she crocheted blankets and booties for infants in the special care nursery at Medical Center Hospital. She was the family historian collecting data for the last twenty years.
She was a member of Belmont Baptist Church. She was a supporter of the youth program.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Vernon Johnston.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Johnston and wife, Karen of Odessa; daughters, Anita Johnston of Irving and Sylvia of Odessa; brothers, Ray Harvill of Odessa and Frank Harvill of Odessa; sister, Audrey Gibson of Odessa; 9 grandchildren, Michael, Bert, Jake, Teena, Lisa, Kathy, Nicole, Jodi and Kelly; and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Medical Center Hospital, Regency Hospital and Parks Methodist Nursing Home for all of their care and kindness shown to Mom in her last days.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007, at Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. Lucian Rudd officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
