Farewell services for Rev. Calvin "Scott" Alford, 93, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 4670 Lakeshore Drive, Shreveport, LA. Dr. Henry L. Armington, Sr. will officiate. Open visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
Rev. Alford was born November 5, 1921 and passed away August 28, 2015. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and a resident of the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA. Survivors include his four children, Carl (Hattie) Alford, Frederick Alford, Commie (Ray) Holmon, Yvonne Carraway; grandchildren, Charlotte (Don) Henderson, Anthony Alford, Stephanie Alford, Bernard Alford, Aylwin Holmon, Eddrina (Todd) Palmer, Veronica Alford, Lawrence Alford; seven great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; one sister, Ms. Goldie Alford Davis; host of nieces, nephews, additional family members and friends.
The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Rev. Calvin Alford to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network in his honor.
