On 22 Apr 1919, he married Daisy Marie Kosak in Souix City, IA. They had three daughters. In 1927, he moved his family to WA state, where he worked for Libby's Cannery, then bought his forty acre farm. He sold eggs and had raspberry fields.
Harmon was hard working and soft spoken. He was self-taught on piano and organ and enjoyed playing duets with his wife.
