Funeral services were held April 10 at the Congregational Church in Clear Lake with Pastor Pearl Miller officiating. Burial was in the Lakeview Cemetery at Clear Lake
Marjorie Helen Tranter was born August 31, 1910, north of Wessington, SD to Walter Edward and Susan Jenny (Clarke) Tranter. She attended country school near Wessington and graduated from Wessington High School in 1928. She attended Northern State College and received her teaching certificate. She then taught school in Hand County.
She was married to Lloyd L. Dennis, son of John & Fannie (Trotman) Dennis, on September 24, 1932, at Miller. She and her husband moved to Deuel County in 1937 where they farmed until 1957, when they moved into Clear Lake. She taught in rural schools until 1969 when she retired.
She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and was worthy matron of Ruth No. 50. She was clerk of the Congregational Church for 25 years and was active in the women's fellowship of the church. In 1978 she received the Clear Lake Community Service Award for her participation in writing the Deul County history book.
She is survived by five nieces and one nephew; two sisters-in-law, Myra (Siegling) Tranter Christian of Miller and Ardith (Dennis) Karst Gussler of Rapid City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lloyd on May 24, 1989; two sisters, Edith (E. Lloyd) Jones (December 1982) and Kathleen (Earl N.) Spinner (December 1980), both of Clear Lake; and a brother, Ronald "Bud" Tranter (September 27, 1948).
