CENTER JUNCTION, Iowa -- Pamela Joan Lux, 59, of Center Junction, died Friday, June 11, 2010, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, with the Rev. Cindy McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in North Madison Pioneer Cemetery, Center Junction. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1950, in Monticello, daughter of John and Helen Rollf Darrow. Pam was a 1969 graduate of Olin High School.

She married Jim Lux in November of 1969 in Galena, Ill. Later, the couple renewed their vows at the Castle Grove Catholic Church with the Rev. Lewis McDonough.

Pam started working at Monticello Nursing and Rehab in 1974, before retiring in 2009. She was among the first women members of the Center Junction Fire Department.

Pam took great pride in her grandchildren, her flowers and her home. She enjoyed camping, mushroom hunting, fishing, her cats, the Jones County Fair and following her Iowa Hawkeyes teams. But the thing she treasured most was the time she got to spend with Jim, her children and grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by those closest to her.

Surviving are her husband, Jim; her children, Matthew (Julie) Lux, of Cascade, Mark (Jennifer) Lux, of Williamsburg, and Sara (Tim) Bartels, of Baldwin; five grandchildren, Jenna and Jacob, of Williamsburg, Alyssa, of Cascade, Anna, of Baldwin, and Brett, of Cascade; two sisters, Gloria Dirks and Donna Soper; and a brother, John Darrow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, father, John Darrow, and mother, Helen Hoyer; her stepfather, Ed Hoyer; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
