SHREVEPORT – Services will be conducted at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd. for Mr. John R. Davis, Jr., 69, of Shreveport, Tuesday, November 7, at 3 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Mike McGee of Southside Baptist Church. Interment will be at Centuries Park.
Mr. Davis died Saturday November 4, 1989, at his residence after a short illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Shreveport, Mr. Davis was owner of John R. Davis Electric Company for 49 years. He was a Veteran of World War II, was Past Commander & Life Member of the American Legion Cedar Grove Post #6, Past Chef de Gare of the 40 & 8 Club [Voiture 137], past member of the West Shreveport Lions Club for 18 years and was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 55 years.
He is survived by his wife, Louise H. Davis of Shreveport; one daughter, Johnette Scogin of Shreveport; one step-daughter, Debbie Long and husband, Mike of Plain Dealing, La.; two sons, Joe Davis of Shreveport, Kenny Davis and wife, Brenda of Keithville; two step-sons, Roxy Dancy of Shreveport, Richard Dancy and wife, Monica of Shreveport; one sister, Maude Violet Henderson of Ponchatoula, La.; one half-sister, Eros Widrig of Valencia, Calif.; one brother, James M. Davis of Carrollton, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers: Tom Seeger, Horace Barber, Melvin Metoyer, Buddy Parker, Buddy Pennington, Harvey Clinton.
