James Thomas Allen was born on 22 November 1931 in Jefferson County, Alabama. He is the son of William Matthew and Nora Stella (Sullivan) Allen.
On 6 January 1949 James was inducted into the United States Army and served until 14 August 1952. He later, on 10 February 1955, reenlisted into the United States Army. He served during both the Korean and Vietnam wars. Then on 15 September 1972, after serving a total of 21 years, 2 months and 13 days, James retired. He retired as a Staff Sargent.
At the age of fifty eight years, on 30 April 1990, James Passed away. He was laid to rest in the Washington Veterans Home Cemetery.
